Advised Gigle, a manufacturer of system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for home networking, on its sale to Broadcom
Arma Partners is pleased to announce that it has acted as exclusive financial advisor to Gigle Networks Inc.(“Gigle”) on its sale to Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) (“Broadcom”). The transaction is valued at approximately $83 million.
Founded in 2005, Gigle (www.giglenetworks.com) develops system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for home networking over power lines, coaxial cable and phone lines. Gigle provides solutions for multimedia home networking that can extend wired and wireless Ethernet everywhere in the home – without the need for new wires. The solutions are targeted for applications such as Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), broadband TV (BBTV), video on demand (VoD) and voice over IP (VoIP). Gigle has R&D centers in Barcelona, Spain and Edinburgh, UK, Sales and Marketing offices in Redwood City, California and support offices near customers in all major regions.
Gigle’s technology will widen the breadth of Broadcom’s intellectual property and enable the design of more highly integrated SoCs that allow whole-home network coverage in a wide variety of global deployment scenarios. The acquisition will also accelerate Broadcom’s time to market for G.hn, a new draft specification for existing-wire home networking, developed under the International Telecommunication Union.
