Advised The Carlyle Group on the sale of UC4, the world’s largest independent IT Process Automation software company, to EQT
Arma Partners is pleased to announce that it acted as the exclusive financial adviser to global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (“Carlyle”) on the sale of UC4 Software (“UC4”) to EQT for an enterprise value of €220 million.
UC4 is the world’s largest independent IT Process Automation software company. Founded in 1985, UC4 employs over 300 staff and serves more than 2,000 customers across 71 countries, automating tens of millions of mission-critical IT operations a day. UC4 generated revenues of c.€62 million in the fiscal year ended 30 April 2012 and is headquartered in Wolfsgraben (close to Vienna), Austria, and Bellevue, WA, US.
Carlyle’s European Technology fund acquired UC4 in March 2006 as a consolidation platform in the IT Process Automation software sector. UC4’s product and service offerings expanded over the following years through a combination of organic initiatives and three add-on acquisitions, and have consistently been rated as industry-leading by analysts such as Gartner, Forrester, 451 Group and IDC.
With over €18 billion in capital raised, EQT is the leading private equity group in Northern Europe. EQT will partner closely with the management team and independent directors to support UC4 in accelerating its international sales, strengthening its market-leading IT Process Automation platform and further expanding its product offerings particularly in application, release and cloud automation.
Arma Partners had forged a close relationship with UC4 over several years, acting as strategic advisor with a view to maximising long-term shareholder value. This transaction, our twelfth so far this calendar year, illustrates Arma Partners’ dominance in European Technology M&A and stellar track record in the software sector in particular.
